We Started as Players
In 2020, Nemo and Derek met at a gathering and played D&D for the first time.
They were fascinated by the many ways dice could shape a tabletop adventure. After playing several times, they began asking a simple question: what if dice could feel more personal?
Why BearDice®?
The name BearDice® brings two ideas together. The bear is powerful, mysterious, and at home in the deep forest. It suggests adventure, exploration, and the unknown.
Dice are the language of tabletop adventure: small objects that turn a story into a shared moment. Together, BearDice® means a powerful companion for every roll.

We Wanted Dice With More Personality
Resin was our first material. We bought molds and began experimenting with resin casting. The process failed again and again. Bubbles, imperfect surfaces, and inconsistent results forced us to study the materials and the craft more carefully.
Eventually, we learned that vacuum equipment was essential to improving the casting process. We changed our tools, refined our methods, and kept learning.
The first successful dice were not perfect. That was part of the beginning. Every imperfect cast taught us about patience, detail, and the care required to make dice players would be proud to bring to the table.
From Custom Dice to Kickstarter
Before there was an online store, there were friends. In 2023, custom dice made for friends grew into original works prepared for Kickstarter. In 2024, BearDice® became a registered trademark and began serving more players online.

Our best ideas do not come from one place. They grow through conversations with players, custom projects, Kickstarter supporters, tabletop conventions, and the people who bring our dice to the table.

A Home for the Adventure
BearDice® began by serving North American players through Kickstarter. Today, our community reaches Europe, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and beyond.
Our Buffalo Grove workshop in the Chicago area has been part of the journey for some time. In July 2026, we officially opened our doors to more players.
This is more than a place to store dice. It is a place where ideas, products, custom projects, and tabletop friendships come together.
The Adventure Ahead
We want to make more than original dice. We want to make it easier for players to bring their own ideas to life: a personalized set, a creator's signature design, a game store collaboration, or a community crowdfunding project.
The future we imagine is a co-creation community where BearDice® and players create together, play together, and grow together.
